Advantages
Attracts male midges with species-specific pheromone. Allows accurate identification of pest species where midges are difficult to differentiate between species. Monitoring allows easy determination of risk to crop and if further control actions are required.
Pack contains 2 lures to give a total of 6 weeks monitoring at two locations. This single pack is effective for a period long enough to cover the risk period from the pest.
Pack contains: 2 re-usable Delta traps, 2 pheromone lures, 8 sticky inserts.
How to Use
How to Use
How to use:
Suitable for use in any crop where Orange Wheat Blossom Midge (OWBM, Sitodiplosis mosellana) is a potential pest.
The orange wheat blossom midge monitoring trap should be setup from GS45 until GS61 to cover the potential midge flying period.
Once setup, the trap should be checked every 2-3 days (i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and the number of caught adults recorded.
Trap placement: Place at the same height as crop ears. The trap should be in place from before first ear emergence until the end of flowering (GS61)
Trap location: Place within the crop area
Trap density: Minimum of 2 traps per field. Pest population will vary with microclimate, in areas of more diverse microclimates higher trap density may be advised
The trap should be hung from a pole within the crop at head height to allow easy access.
Traps should be checked at least once or twice a week and number of trapped moths recorded. After recording trapped numbers during scouting, trapped moths should be removed from sticky insert to improve future catches and reduce chance of miscounting in following assessments.
Do not open foil sachet until you want to use the pheromone lure. Until use, store unopened sticky inserts and pheromone lures in a cool dry location.
Traps can be used over several years with the addition of fresh replacement pheromones (sold separately.)
