How to Use
TUTAVIR should be stored in a fridge (≤5°C).
TUTAVIR can be applied with standard spray equipment.
For optimum control TUTAVIR needs to be applied as soon as first moth trap catches occur or first mines are detected.
TUTAVIR should be applied up to a maximum rate of 200 ml/ha per treatment. Spray volume should be high enough to give good crop coverage without runoff (200- 1800 L/ha depending on planting density and crop size).
Repeat applications may be required with a minimum of four day intervals between applications, but no greater than sevens. It is recommended that TUTAVIR is applied up to at least five consecutive applications, to ensure the entire hatching period is covered. TUTAVIR can be applied up to 30 times per year.
Use pesticides safely, always read the label before use.
Advantages
- Flexible biological insecticide against tomato leafminer, can be integrated into any pest control system including synthetic chemistry, mating disruption and other biologicals.
- No recordable residue (MRL exempt).
- Pre-harvest interval of 1 day.
- Specific to tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta) supporting non-target biodiversity.
Technical Documents

UTAVIR® is a biological insecticide for the control of Tuta absoluta
(tomato leaf miner). TUTAVIR® contains a Phthorimaea operculella
granulovirus (PhopGV). These viruses belong to the family of insect
pathogenic baculoviruses that occur naturally in lepidopteran species.
Baculoviruses are very specific to the target pest and are safe for aquatic
species, birds, beneficial insects, mammals and bees. Baculoviruses are
registered insecticides and undergo the same stringent evaluations as
used for traditional chemical products.
